This section will allow users to easily coordinate activities based on shared views (as opposed to direct personal contacts). Activity on areas like the discussion boards is needed to provide the data required to establish these connections (therefore this area won't be developed until nearly last). Project - Draft a Candidate

Candidates for political/judicial/community positions are typically self-promoted. Unfortunately, people who want the job are often least suited to the position(s).

A project to Draft a Candidate will organize supporters to petition the Candidate. In some cases, the project will be successful when a person accepts a job. In more complex election-related positions, the project will create connections and tools that can be transferred to a Campaign Project if the Candidate accepts (and would serve).

A mock/test Draft a Candidate project is available here:

[Link to come]

Please provide comments and suggestions on how to improve projects of this type below. Feel free to expand on the basic idea and comment on improvements for specialty projects like local, state or Federal elections, and non-political positions like replacing a local Fire Chief, a new Choir Director for your Church, a regional search for a new school Superintendent, et cetera.

Clearly links to existing social media will be a vital part of effective "Draft a Candidate" project. The key is providing focus to social media efforts rather than promoting an annoying spew with 15 minutes of potential...

We will also add a mock/test project to launch/manage campaigns soon.

This website is not designed to promote a specific candidate or viewpoint. Please feel free to post or email suggestions for additional Campaign projects.

"Deez Nuts" was added [as a current candidate] with the FEC on July 26th, 2015.

Obviously a joke name, the candidate was added to non-scientific Presidential polls by Public Policy Polling and drew 7-9% support.

According to the New York Times, "...Deez Nuts is a registered independent, a supporter of a balanced budget and the Iran nuclear deal — and a 15-year-old farm boy from Iowa."

It appears that a substantial portion of the public is dissatisfied with the current political selections. This is exactly why this website is building tools for the public to "Draft a Candidate" (for President or any other office). Hopefully, we can draft candidates with better qualifications than Deez Nuts.

One of the greatest challenges for our vision of Campaign-related Projects is developing and encouraging two-way communications (between a group of supporters/voters and an individual candidate).

The "Draft a Candidate" Project relates to the initial point of communication which is often the most difficult/complex.

iDrafted.org is currently focused on developing project tools related to elections to take advantage of the special interest during the four year Presidential election cycle in the United States; even though election and candidate tools are not the primary focus of the website, the beta development of Campaign Projects is very helpful to the evolution of resources needed to empower individual projects of all scales...

The FEC list of Presidential Filers seems to have exploded in the last few days with "joke" filers (based on a list organized by date).

[fec.gov/press/resources/2016presidential_form2dt.shtml]

Hopefully "joke" filings are not deemed criminal but they definitely should be avoided. There is some merit in a candidate like "Deez Nuts" filing as it raises issues of voter dissatisfaction. Pointless filings are only likely to undermine reforms and make it more difficult for serious candidates to register in the future...
